(KNSI) – The Boys and Girls Clubs of Central Minnesota is looking to deepen its roster of potential senior administrators through its Great Futures Leadership Cohort.

Now in its second year, the program takes current staff and tries to develop skills to help them move up to some of the most influential positions in the organization. It looks to enhance professional skills, develop new competencies, and encourage members to map out their career goals.

The sessions run from 9:00 a.m. to noon on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month. Some topics covered include long-term thinking and strategic planning, business operations and board governance, customer service, accounting and financial management, and a capstone project that helps bring every subject together by showing how they are used in real life.

This year’s cohort includes seven members. Kathryn Germick began her involvement with Boys and Girls Clubs locally as a youth development professional. While studying at St. Cloud State University, she became a human resources intern and, upon getting her degree in management, an HR business partner.

Alex Girodat is the senior site manager at the Clearview KIDSTOP. He studied sports management at North Dakota State University with an emphasis on youth sports.

Carlie Harmon is in charge of the Riverview KIDSTOP. She also began working for the organization while in college, volunteering as part of credit for a course. She says she loves the environment she works in and will look to take that perspective and learn how to apply it on a larger scale.

Sylvia Krecklau is the senior site manager at the Roosevelt Boys and Girls Club. She has a background in HR.

Yvonne Hall runs the Eastside Boys and Girls Club. She hopes to improve her communication, problem-solving and relationship-building skills.

Nathan Janson is also a senior site manager, working out of Little Falls. He has been with the organization for 14 years.

The final member of the cohort is Darien Stegner, site manager at the Southside Club. He is active as a coach and youth mentor.
