(KNSI) – The organizers behind a second community outpost coming to St. Cloud’s east side will explain their roles to a local civics group.
The Greater St. Cloud Public Safety Foundation will announce the East
End Community OutPost initiative at the St. Cloud Rotary meeting on Tuesday.
The event will take place at noon on Tuesday at the outpost’s future home inside Salem Lutheran Church. The Foundation will hold a panel discussion for those in attendance. Speakers include representatives from CentraCare/St. Cloud Hospital, the College of St. Benedict and St. John’s University, and the St. Cloud Police Department.
The program’s early focus will be forming a nurse-led health clinic to treat patients, provide educational opportunities for graduate and undergraduate college students, and offer free care to underserved populations in and around the St. Cloud area.
Along with the clinic, the St. Cloud Police Department’s Community Crisis Intervention Team will use the space to provide mental health services, responses and outreach.
The clinic will initially be open one day a week, with the goal of opening the facility fully sometime in the first quarter of 2025. After a lease agreement is signed, the Greater St. Cloud Public Safety Foundation anticipates beginning renovation on the Education Wing.
