(KNSI) — Over 50 Soldiers from the Minnesota National Guard’s 204th Medical Company Area Support (MCAS) are deploying to the Middle East today.
The 204th MCAS delivers medical support, from basic first aid to advanced care, such as combat lifesavers with emergency medical technician level training, plus physicians and physician assistants. They conduct initial medical treatment such as first aid and lifesaving procedures provided to personnel immediately after an injury or illness and focus on either stabilizing them for evacuation or returning them to duty. The unit offers disease and nonbattle injury prevention, combat stress support to manage psychological impacts, and casualty collection and evacuation for further treatment. They support medical facilities utilizing more advanced services and include the evacuation of patients, initial resuscitation and emergency care, dental services, and laboratory and X-ray capabilities for diagnostic purposes.
The unit provides Medical Care for U.S. service members and allies and provides medical facilities with services such as dental care, lab work, and X-rays.
“The 204 MCAS is a dedicated group of professionals who understand the vital nature of their mission,” said Army Col. Jesse Johnson, the 347 Regional Support Group Commander. “Their readiness and expertise will be invaluable to our service members and allies.”
“This team has spent two years preparing for their mission, honing their skills in both civil and military operations,” said Army Maj. Jakob Reding, the 204 MCAS Commander. “Our core function is providing medical care to service members and allies. We are confident in our team’s ability to excel in this critical role.”
A departure ceremony will be held in Brooklyn Park at 6:00 on Thursday evening.
