(KNSI) — For two months, patrons and commuters using the Paramount Parking Ramp will need to take the stairs.

Crews will begin modernizing the structure’s elevator on Monday, August 19th. The lift uses 35-year-old equipment that is becoming difficult to service. The project is expected to last for eight weeks. The stairwell will still be usable.

A fix is planned to help those with mobility issues. Nineteen hourly paid meters at street level will be converted to handicapped spaces. The city’s Public Works Department is overseeing the project.

Paramount has only one event scheduled for the second half of August. The classic movie The Wizard of Oz will wrap up the summer series.
