(KNSI) — A 49-year-old man is under arrest and awaiting formal charges after allegedly firing a gun outside his house on Tuesday night.
According to a press release, at about 6:45, Sauk Rapids police were called to a home on the 1000 block of 3rd Street North for a man who was suffering an emotional crisis. Officers responded and made sure the man was the only one in the house, but they couldn’t make contact with him. Because there was no threat of danger to anyone, police left, but a short time later, the sound of a gunshot was heard, so officers returned.
Sources tell KNSI News roads were blocked, and police were on the scene as late as 10:15 p.m., attempting to negotiate with the man, who was also reportedly believed to be under the influence.
He was taken into custody and brought to the hospital before being booked into the Benton County jail.
