(KNSI) – Metro Bus is looking for community input to help push its ride service forward into the future.
The organization has put together a website that lists the goals of the planning initiative, along with a draft of recommendations and a survey on how residents feel about the new ideas. Metro Bus Forward is a project that aims to build ridership, improve efficiency, and ensure that its services are accessible to all demographics.
The primary change would be to increase trips where most people live and work by creating direct service that runs in both directions in those areas. Now, the fixed-route paths are large loops that can take 30 minutes or more to get to your destination.
For more rural areas, Metro Bus would shift to on-demand service. Routes would also be redesigned to take into account the new West Side Transit Center being built in Waite Park.
Metro Bus hopes to expand its service area to include most of Sartell to the north, Sauk Rapids-Rice High School to the east and Tech High School in south St. Cloud.
The survey consists of six questions. You can answer them via this link.
