(KNSI) – Disabled veterans will have a chance to get in a blind this fall for duck hunting season.

The Wright County Parks & Recreation Department is working with several partners to provide the opportunity at Robert Ney Regional Park near Maple Lake on October 5th. During the annual event, eight disabled vets will get to hunt on land otherwise unavailable to the public.

Anyone interested in the hunt must apply to the Wright County Veterans Services Office by September 16th. After that day, eight participants will be selected through a random lottery. Winners will be notified by 5:00 p.m. on September 20th.

The hunt is a collaboration between Wright County, Pheasants Forever, 4 Points Retriever Club, Hasty-Silver Creek Sportsmen’s Club, North American Hunting Retriever Association, and Wright County Veterans Services.

Contact Wright County Veterans Services at 763- 682-7325 for more information. You can also click here to fill out an online application at any time.
