(KNSI) – A concert to support Cold Spring firefighters and first responders will ignite central Minnesota this weekend.

FireFest 2024 is set to burn the stage down on Saturday night. Event organizer Jeff Vee told KNSI that this could be the best show they’ve had in the event’s 16-year history. “We’re thrilled with the lineup that we have. It’s really exciting for the weekend.”

This year’s acts include Shaylen, Clay Walker, Parmalee and Brothers Osborne. Firefighter Matt Hesse told KNSI that running a department costs a lot of money, and this event helps to ensure they have the best equipment to answer the call when someone is in need. “It’s our fundraiser, and we treat it as that. And all the money comes back to us. It’s been a really good fundraiser for us to be able to stay up on our equipment.”

Firefighters respond to a lot more than just fires. They are also on the front lines in medical calls, car crashes, and hazardous waste spills. The funds also cover the cost of training the department to be ready for these types of emergencies.

The Cold Spring Fire Department was dispatched out about 600 times in 2023 and is on pace to respond to more than 700 calls this year.

FireFest is an annual country music festival that’s become one of Cold Spring’s most popular traditions.

Tickets and camping are still available. Get your tickets and more information on the concert by clicking here.
