(KNSI) – Pilgrims from central Minnesota have descended upon Indianapolis for the National Eucharistic Congress.

This is the first National Eucharistic Congress in 83 years.

A consecrated host, which Catholics believe is the true presence of Jesus Christ, has been carried across the country from four different areas in a device called a Monstrance.

The journey for the Marian Route began near the headwaters of the Mississippi River in Itasca and made its way through St. Cloud in June. From there, pilgrims processed miles each day with it to bring it to Indianapolis.

Wednesday evening, groups from the four routes will converge at Lucas Oil Stadium with the consecrated host for adoration and worship music.

The Congress continues through Sunday with various exhibits, speakers and presentations for youth, adults and families. We will be checking in with attendees from the St. Cloud area to bring you experiences and to follow along with this historic event.
