(KNSI) – A Sartell dairy farmer is one of five finalists for a top agricultural award.

Kirsten Udermann will learn if she is the Minnesota Farmfest Woman Farmer of the Year at the Women in Ag Event on August 8th. She is a fifth-generation farmer and owner of Meadowbrook Dairy, which has been in her family since 1916.

Meadowbrook raises 1,000 acres of crops: alfalfa, corn, small grains, and soybeans, plus 80 dairy cows and 300 feeder steers. Udermann is responsible for vaccinations and calf development. She runs the young stock feeding program and personally selects bulls for breeding with the Meadowbrook herd.

Udermann has three kids, and another is on the way. She hopes to keep the farm in the family for generations to come.

Outside of Meadowbrook, Udermann coaches Stearns County Princess Kay contestants. She also serves on the Young Cooperators Board and has already received an award for her work this year.
