Foul Play Ruled Out After Body Found Monday In South St. Cloud

(KNSI) – Officials with the St. Cloud Police Department say the suspicious death of a 26-year-old St. Cloud man was a false alarm.

The body of Mohamed Mustaf Mohamud was discovered in a natural area located near Tech High School off 33rd Street South. St. Cloud Fire Department was called out for a small grass fire Monday morning and noticed Mohamud while putting out the flames.

SCPD brought in the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, the Minnesota State Fire Marshal’s Office, and the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office to investigate potential foul play. An update Wednesday says they now believe Mohamud died due to the fire, not because of any potential criminal activity.
