(KNSI) – There’s no better way to celebrate Independence Day than with the most American form of entertainment, good ol’ rock n’ roll.

The annual Joetown Rocks festival is scheduled for July 3rd and 4th. The Killer Vees will be there, of course. Co-Chair Bruce Bechtold tells KNSI that a big-time national act has also been added to the lineup.

“I think our big headliner and the exciting part is we’re gonna get Chris Kroeze here. He was second on The Voice and really a big hit.”

Kroeze was born in small-town Wisconsin, and he brings those sensibilities to both country and rock music. He holds the record as the most streamed Voice contestant in the show’s 13-year history.

There will be plenty of concession options. Gates open at 5:00 p.m. with the concert lineup consisting of the St. Joseph Catholic School Choir, Leslie Vincent, Kroeze, and The Killer Vees. Fireworks will follow at 10:15 p.m. The performances are free.

Things start with a bang, and Day Two ensures the festival ends on anything but a whimper. Bechtold runs through the Independence Day activity lineup.

“The Lions Club puts on the big parade down Minnesota Street starting at 10:00 a.m. Church bells will toll to start off the parade and the festival continues. All of the food and beverage and game stands will be open until three.”

There will also be a bingo and a quilt auction. Photos of the entries are already up on the event’s website.

Joetown Rocks is the largest annual fundraiser for St. Joseph Parish. The festival takes place on the grounds of the church, which is located at Minnesota Street and College Avenue.
