(KNSI) – Residents in several area cities are being asked to cut back on showers and other activities that send water into the sanitary sewer system.

Emergency repairs are being made on a critical component of the forcemain system. The issue affects St. Cloud, Sartell, St. Joseph, Sauk Rapids, and Waite Park.

Officials want you to limit your showers and baths, laundry, dishwashing, cooking, and tooth brushing until the problem is solved. The City of St. Cloud will update its Water and Sewer Service News page. A link is here.

A press release from the city says the voluntary restrictions are being made out of an abundance of caution.
