(KNSI) — Early voting for the August 13th primaries begins Friday in Minnesota.

The election will narrow the number of names on the November ballot in races with an excess number of candidates.

In St. Cloud, residents will vote to reduce the number of candidates running for mayor from six to two. The list for the city council must also be reduced from 16 to six to fill three at-large council seats.

Stearns County residents can cast an absentee ballot at the Lake George Municipal Complex in St. Cloud or the Stearns County Service Center in Waite Park. Voters can also apply for an absentee ballot online or contact the Auditor-Treasurer’s office for an application to be mailed out. Ballots can be mailed back or brought to secure drop boxes at the buildings. Voters also have the option to track their ballot online.

Early in-person voting ends August 12th.

The Stearns County Auditor-Treasurer’s office can answer any questions at 320-656-3920 or email elections@co.stearns.mn.us
