(KNSI) – A local law enforcement agency is benefitting from a charity bike ride, which rolled through the St. Cloud area this past weekend.

At an official ceremony, Scheels donated 21 body armor inserts to the Waite Park Police Department, thanks to the Tour de Shield616, which raised nearly $193,000. The non-profit organization is dedicated to providing rifle-rated armor to first responders and helping build a bond between those who protect the community and the residents they serve.

The route was specifically chosen to take participants across the state of Minnesota and into North dakota. They also got to enjoy the Wobegon Trail. In total, they pedaled for over 456 miles.
