(KNSI) – Three central Minnesota cities are getting federal funds for projects that reduce carbon emissions.
The Saint Cloud Area Planning Organization Policy Board has awarded $440,000 in grants from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act through the Carbon Reduction Program.
St. Cloud will receive $95,333 for a new sidewalk along Lincoln Avenue Southeast between 4th Street Southeast and 7th Street Southeast. Sauk Rapids is getting $179,334 for an electric vehicle charging station in a public parking lot at the corner of 1st Street North and 2nd Avenue North. Sartell will use $165,333 to buy four EV squad cars.
Earlier this year, the APO awarded CRP funds to Benton County for the County Highway 1 and County Highway 29 roundabout project set to start in 2025. St. Cloud was awareded $200,000 to install an EV charging station at the Stearns History Museum and $179,800 for engineering and design work on the Paper Mill Trail in Sartell.
