(KNSI) – St. Cloud Subaru gave a local nonprofit over $100,000 on Tuesday.

A check was presented to the Greater St. Cloud Public Safety Foundation during a ceremony held just before noon. Dealership general manager Bobby Konnight says the award comes from the annual “Share The Love” campaign.

He explained to KNSI News that hitting the century mark for the organization was incredible as there are many options to donate to. Customers can select from four national charities or a local option.

“So, we needed about 90% of the people to pick the Greater St. Cloud Public Safety [Foundation] for us to get to 100 [thousand], and we did that. You know, we had all of our salespeople on board with it.”

“Share The Love” starts in November each year. Between construction and parts shortages, this latest campaign was constrained in terms of the number of vehicles available for sale. Konnight says that makes hitting the goal even more amazing.

KNSI also talked to an official with the Greater St. Cloud Public Safety Foundation. In addition to the Community OutPost, or COP House, the group offers scholarship support to first responders and hosts a wellness event in the fall. Executive Director Jenifer Odette describes what’s planned for this year.

“We offer awards, and we also provide a speaker. And this year, we’re pretty excited. We’re bringing in Hunter Pinke. He actually was a football player at UND and is now a paraplegic, and he is going to come in and speak to us on [the concept of taking things] one day at a time.”

Odette says the group has a reach across Benton, Sherburne, and Stearns Counties, and Tuesday’s gift will impact the region.
