(KNSI) – A merchant-led group called Experience Downtown St. Cloud has received the results of a survey on parking in the city’s historic district.
More than 1,179 people responded to the survey, with 52 being downtown property owners, 484 being from outside the city, and 643 being St. Cloud residents. According to the responses, the weakest issue with downtown parking is needing to pay and using the app. When asked what works best, the top answer was free ramps, followed by nothing. People also felt the best way to improve downtown parking would be to make it free.
Over 60% said they would support changing the downtown parking enforcement time to 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday and making it free on Sunday.
The results will inform political candidates about what’s working well for parking downtown and areas needing improvement.
The survey is not affiliated with the Downtown Alliance, City of St. Cloud, Chamber of Commerce, or Greater St. Cloud Development Corporation.
