Update: Help Wanted Finding Vandals Who Wasted Over a Million Gallons of Water by Opening Fire Hydrants in Cokato

(KNSI) – Officials are asking the public to help find those responsible for letting more than a million gallons of water go down the drain after vandals opened fire hydrants in Cokato over the weekend.

The Wright County Sheriff’s Office says multiple fire hydrants across the city were opened between 11:00 p.m. on Saturday and 2:30 a.m. Sunday, causing a significant drop in the city’s water supply. Officials said a fire could have caused a serious issue and led to flood damage.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Wright County Sheriff’s Office at 763-682-7600.
