(KNSI) – Wake restrictions are going into effect on some central Minnesota lakes due to high water.

The Meeker County Sheriff’s Office issued an order creating a no-wake zone within 500 feet of shore on Washington, Stella, Manuella, Minnie-Belle, Erie and Big Swan Lake.

This order is in effect for the next 30 days. “Slow-No Wake” means operating a watercraft at the slowest possible speed necessary to maintain steering or no faster than five miles per hour. As a reminder, a no-wake order was previously issued for Lake Arvilla and remains in effect. Other lakes in the area are being monitored.

Large wakes can cause damage to docks and shorelines.
