(KNSI) – This year’s St. Cloud Fourth of July fireworks show won’t wait until the sun goes down to start the fun.

Food trucks will be taking orders at Wilson Park at noon. There will be kids’ games and activities, plus the playground. The bands MN 13 and The Honey Badgers will take the stage in the lead-up to the first boom in the night sky. Commissioner Christina Buttenhoff tells KNSI a 50/50 raffle will be added this year.

“St. Cloud State Dance Team will be selling tickets at about five o’clock in the evening. Our license allows for us to give out $50,000. So, if we can raise $100,000, there’s going to be one lucky person that can win $50,000 buying a $5 ticket.”

She says proceeds will help ensure the fireworks show’s viability into the future by providing guaranteed revenue. Right now, the committee relies solely on the generosity of donors and volunteers.

Hester Park will see a lot of the same activities. Food trucks will serve everything your palate could desire early in the afternoon, starting at about 2:00.

Buttenhoff says, “We’ve got ice cream, we’ve got hot dogs, we’ve got egg rolls, hamburgers. There’s lots of fun and unique food trucks down at Hester Park.”

Ice cream will help you keep cool until a scheduled performance from the St. Cloud Municipal Band.

Buttenhoff says it takes a big team to pull everything off, with setup beginning at 9:00 a.m. If you are interested in lending a hand, email cleeb@ymail.com.
