(KNSI) — The St. Cloud VA Health Care System has a new director for its Medical Center.

Cheryl Thieschafer is a 13 year veteran of the U.S. Army, achieving the rank of Major in various leadership roles. She has been with the Department of Veterans Affairs for over 23 years and has been the Associate Director of the St. Cloud VA Health Care System since April 2012, overseeing financial and administrative operations. Her previous positions include Analyst, Staff Assistant to the Health Care System Director, and Facility Planner.

Thieschafer graduated from the VA Health Care Leadership Program in 2012 and is an American College of Healthcare Executives member. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Food Service from North Dakota State University and a Master of Health Administration from Baylor University.

“Ms. Thieschafer has extensive experience and is an outstanding choice as the new director of the St. Cloud VA Health Care System,” said Robert McDivitt, VA Midwest Health Care Network Executive Director. “Her tenure as the Associate Director at the St. Cloud VA Health Care System has well-prepared her to lead, guide our employees and volunteers, collaborate with health care partners, and serve the community and Veterans we honor.”

The St. Cloud VA Health Care System is headquartered at the St. Cloud VA Medical Center with Community Based Outpatient Clinics in Alexandria, Brainerd, and Montevideo.
