(KNSI) – Rockville residents will have a chance to weigh in on a proposed project that would redesign the intersection of Highway 23 and County Road 8.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation will host an open house on Tuesday at Rockville City Hall from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. The agency intends to convert the crossing into a J-turn design. Traffic on County Road 8 would need to make a right and then navigate a U-turn through the median to go left. The crossover at the intersection would then be closed off.
The designs are popular in Michigan and are being picked up elsewhere as they tend to reduce deadly “T-bone” accidents. MnDOT also wants to include a pedestrian crossing. The intersection would not be altered until 2027.
The open house will not have a formal presentation. It will be a casual drop-in event. You can meet with project managers to have your questions answered one-on-one and stop by anytime during the two-hour window.
