(KNSI) – Sartell Summerfest rings in the area’s outdoor festival season.
It starts with a family-friendly event that will surely be a home run. Engagement Director Nikki Sweeter says Libertyville always swings for the fences. “Liberty Bank takes this portion of Summerfest on every year, and they knock it out of the park! There’s inflatables, face painting, games. Many things for families to do together.”
It runs Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the city hall parking lot. Libertyville is the tune-up for Summerfest’s keystone event, the parade on Riverside Avenue. It steps off at 10:00 a.m. Saturday near Watab Creek Park. Floats and marching bands will snake along Riverside Avenue before finishing at Riverview Intermediate School.
The afternoon and evening feature a dance party at City Hall, recommended for ages 21 and up. Sweeter says they’ll be getting down a bit earlier this year since there is a verifiable buffet of dinner options.
“We have six food trucks coming in. You’ll have everything from burgers to different types of meats to hot dogs, lemonade, [and] ice cream.”
The dance party runs from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday.
There is one new event to be on the lookout for. The Makin’ Mirth Scavenger Hunt will send you around town as you try to decipher clues while your sides split from laughter.
Summerfest will not be having a fireworks show this year.
