(KNSI) – The launch of a highly anticipated state website has fizzled out due to catastrophic technical problems.
According to officials, e-bike Rebate applications were not available on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m., when the site was initially scheduled to go live. The state is working with its external technology vendors to understand and fix the issues.
The rebates are based on personal income. Minnesota will stop issuing them after it cuts ten thousand checks.
Minnesota has had problems launching online sites before. Minnesotans may recall the troubled rollout of the Minnesota Licensing and Registration System, better known as MNLARS. The launch in July of 2017 caused thousands of Minnesotans to have the license tabs and registration delayed for months.
In January 2014, the MNsure health care exchange crashed, causing thousands of people to go without insurance.
