(KNSI) – Waite Park City Council heard from the architect in charge of the public safety expansion at Monday’s work session.
Administrator Shauna Johnson emailed KNSI to say that the project is still in the conceptual design phase. The firm, BKV, has completed the layout for the police department addition and improvements for the fire department and administration sections.
Johnson says cost is a huge advantage to building out at the existing municipal facility. Even though there are maintenance issues that need to be addressed, it is still more efficient thanks to a number of shared spaces that can be used by several city departments depending on need.
A geotechnical report is still being completed. When that has been completed, the final layout will be finished, and then Waite Park will begin the process of hiring a construction manager.
