(KNSI) – The rocket’s red glare will once again glow over the Mississippi River in St. Cloud on Independence Day.
Major General Gerry Lang spoke with KNSI Wednesday morning about this year’s fireworks display. He says parks on both sides of the river will have plenty of entertainment leading up to the show.
“The St. Cloud Symphony Orchestra will be at Hester Park. Minnesota 13 is going to be at 6:00 p.m. and the great HoneyBadgers once again at eight o’clock at Wilson Park, and they will play right up to the point where the first rocket goes up in the air.”
Lang also teased several new activities that will be announced in the coming weeks.
St. Cloud has been holding fireworks on the Fourth of July proper for 78 years. It is one of the ten biggest displays in the state.
Lang says St. Cloud remains committed to the event, which isn’t the case everywhere. “We have always been in the top 10 of the fireworks programs throughout Minnesota, and many times, we’re the top five. This is kind of unique and there’s a lot of cities bowing out of it because of the liability, because of the cost, because of the volunteers.”
