(KNSI) – Memorial Day means some changes to business as usual on Monday.

Parking will be free throughout downtown St. Cloud, and many area businesses, including banks and other financial institutions, some restaurants, and retailers, will be closed in observance of the holiday.

Home Depot and other garden stores are staying open, and many will offer significant sale discounts throughout the weekend. Memorial Day is generally considered the unofficial start to summer and a popular time to begin home renovations and outdoor projects.

City and county government buildings and facilities, like the compost site, are closed on Monday. Services are also put on hold. Yard waste pick-up will be delayed for one week in St. Cloud.

The next federal holiday that will impact normal business is Juneteenth, which is a Wednesday this year. It is observed on June 19th.
