(KNSI) — A motorcyclist distracted by the scenery is expected to recover after accidentally rear-ending a trailer Wednesday afternoon.

According to the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office, at about 12:45, they were called to the crash on southbound County Road 2 near Robert Road about a mile north of St. Joseph. The 74-year-old motorcyclist, Ralph Sieben, of Cold Spring, told police he was looking across a farm field and didn’t notice the slowing truck and trailer until it was too late.

Sieben hit the back of the flat deck trailer and landed on the back of it. The trailer had minor damage. Neither the truck’s driver nor his passenger were hurt. Sieben’s crashed 1985 Honda Gold Wing was found lying on its side in the northbound lane and is believed to be totaled.

Siben was wearing a helmet and was taken to CentraCare St. Cloud Hospital for treatment.

The St. Joseph Police Department and Mayo Ambulance also assisted at the scene.
