(KNSI) — For nearly 115 years, Split Rock Lighthouse has stood guard over Lake Superior’s North Shore. Now, fans can watch the iconic landmark anytime, anywhere, thanks to a new live streaming camera.
The Minnesota Historical Society, in partnership with Duluth Harbor Cam, has launched a 24/7 livestream with a camera that can rotate, pan, and zoom, offering viewers a variety of perspectives of the lighthouse and surrounding area.
Thursday night at 9:00, watchers can witness a special event – the lighting of the Split Rock Lighthouse beacon as part of the North Shore Community Night. It is a rare opportunity to see the beacon illuminated, as it’s typically only lit for special occasions such as the Gales of November remembrance. It was decommissioned in 1969.
