(KNSI) – The Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs is looking for Vietnam veterans to share their stories and experiences of their military service as part of the National Oral History Project.
This project offers veterans the opportunity to record their stories both during the war and back home. Each will be archived and preserved to educate future generations about the service and sacrifice of servicemembers. Families of veterans are also encouraged to participate, providing a more comprehensive picture of the war and the impact it had on those here at home.
If a veteran is interested in participating, they can contact Bess Ellenson via email at bellenson@tunheim.com
The MDVA is hosting a three-day commemoration at the Mall of America June 13th through the 15th to mark the 50th anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War. Temporary exhibits from the Minnesota Military and Veterans Museum will be on display. At 11:00 a.m. on Friday, the 14th, a ceremony will combine music, speakers, and storytelling to celebrate the heroism and sacrifice made by Marines, pilots, sailors, and soldiers in Southeast Asia. When the program is over, officials are planning a complimentary brunch for Vietnam veterans.
