(KNSI) – A local police force has been given some tools to help anyone with autism or other neural disorders during a crisis.
An anonymous person donated a sensory emergency kit to the Avon Police Department. The non-profit Bit of Grace, in collaboration with therapists and those with disabilities, prepared the kits to help adults or children with sensory issues that make it hard to speak to people. Their vision is to ensure everyone can communicate in a time of need.
BOG says by providing public safety with these kits, stressful situations can be de-escalated by other means of communication. Police Chief Corey Nellis thanked the donor and Bit of Grace for their generosity.
