(KNSI) – The National Association of Letter Carriers is hosting its 32nd Annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive on Saturday.
Participating is easy. Just leave a bag filled with non-perishable food by the mailbox on Saturday morning. Everything collected in central Minnesota will stay in this region. Letter carriers will pick up donations, and volunteers will sort them for distribution to Catholic Charities and Salvation Army food shelves right here in the St. Cloud area.
Hunger Solutions Minnesota says it has seen food shelf usage skyrocket, with visits jumping to a record-breaking 7.5 million last year. Children, seniors and veterans make up a significant portion of users.
The event typically collects over 70 million pounds of fruit, pasta, soup, and vegetables each spring.
