(KNSI) – A St. Cloud area organization is one of six in the state selected for a Labor Education Advancement Program award.

LEAP grants are meant to encourage apprenticeship programs for underserved communities, particularly people of color, indigenous individuals, and women. The Walz Administration chose Friends of Career Solutions for the $1 million program.

Career Solutions focuses on job counseling, training, and building career-oriented relationships. It serves everyone from entry-level to experienced workers, youth, and veteran employees. Friends of Career Solutions is an affiliated organization focusing on immigrants and indigenous groups.

Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry Commissioner Nicole Blissenbach says, “The combination of paid, on-the-job training and classroom instruction gives employees the skills they need for a life-long career.”

LEAP grants were included in the 2023 One Minnesota budget.
