(KNSI) – The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is reminding anglers headed to Mille Lacs Lake for the walleye opener this weekend, to remember CPR – catch, photograph and release.
Regulations for the spring and summer are catch-and-release only. Between May 11th and August 15th, walleye fishing will be catch-and-release only. Starting August 16th, any “keepers” reeled in must be between 21 and 23 inches long or longer than 28 inches, and it’s one walleye only.
According to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, the regulations will help keep the state’s walleye take within the limit agreed upon with tribal nations.
