St. Cloud’s Blacklight Adventures Charts Course For Major Expansion

(KNSI) – Blacklight Adventures is adding mini golf to its family entertainment facility as part of an 18,000-square-foot expansion.

Owner Jay Mrozek teases what the two nine-hole courses will look like. “The first course is kind of like a jungle safari Hidden Temple kind of adventure that leads into an epic pirate theme. Those two themes will be blended together to tell a seamless story, or you can go on two separate adventures.”

Set to open in the fall, either September or October, the mini golf section is being constructed by a vendor in Indiana that also did the Lazer Tag course, which mimics a Pandora-like planet similar to what is seen in the film “Avatar.” The expansion will more than double the size of Blacklight Adventures.

Jay’s wife and co-owner, Tina, says the addition goes beyond just putt putt.

“We’re adding some other adventure rooms, which are basically mini versions of escape rooms. They’re kind of more of an object-based versus an escape-based game.”

Tina says the best part of adding on rather than renovating is that the existing section of Blacklight Adventures will remain open throughout the process. The facility is perfect for birthday parties, families, corporate outings, and date nights.

Both Jay and Tina have been pleasantly surprised at the interest from adults they have gotten over the years. When kids and adults collide in a laser tag duel, Jay smirks when answering who wins most of the time.

“Grownups… adults go into the laser tag very assured of themselves, very much thinking they’re going to dominate, but I promise you, kids are the world’s greatest laser tag players. So, if you find yourself matched up against kids, you don’t have to plan on taking it easy on them. You got to try your best, because they’re certainly trying their best.”

There’s also the virtual reality lounge and arcade to have fun with.
