(KNSI) – Free airplane rides this Saturday morning for local kids are designed to make an interest in aviation take flight in the next generation.

The local Young Eagles chapter will take children and teenagers into the air from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. A link to pre-register is here.

Organizers say there are 36 open spots for children ages eight to 17. In addition to registering, the group requires a parent or guardian to sign a consent form on-site. The event will take place at St. Cloud Regional Airport, and signs listing where to park will be posted.

Young Eagles was launched in 1992. It hopes to inspire kids by giving them their first ever flight. Over 2.3 million children and teens have taken part nationwide.

If you have questions about the local program, call Chip Sauers at 320-248-8384 or email chip2003@charter.net.
