(KNSI) — The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development has unveiled a workforce development grant, totaling over $205,000 for St. Cloud State University’s training partnership with Central McGowan.
Central McGowan is a St. Cloud-based distributor and integrator specializing in welding supplies, specialty gases, and robotics solutions. It is looking to develop its workforce and the training program will focus on developing team managers and future leaders, retaining employees, and upskilling current workers for advanced positions. The professional development program will cover leadership, management, sales/marketing, customer service, financial/accounting, and technical skills for 135 employees.
“Workforce training programs help Minnesota workers develop new skills, while also helping employers build employee engagement and ensure workers have necessary skills for personal and organizational success,” said DEED Commissioner Matt Varilek. “Minnesota’s higher education institutions are excellent training program partners with proven track records in delivering effective, customized training programs for Minnesota businesses.”
Participating businesses must partner with an accredited educational institution for these Minnesota Jobs Skills Partnership (MJSP) grants, awarded to the educational institution to develop and deliver custom training for the business.
