(KNSI) — The community is invited to meet the team behind Sartell K9 officer Kimber on Saturday.
Sartell Police Department relaunched its K9 program last year thanks to support from Soldier’s 6, a nonprofit group that trains and donates service dogs to departments like Sartell and works with the families of military veterans.
The event is scheduled from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Second Street Coffeehouse.
Mike from Soldier’s Six began putting Kimber through her paces last September. She officially graduated from her therapy dog class in late March and is now serving as a friendly presence inside the city’s public safety building.
The Belgian malinois has already proved herself in the field. She was able to provide support to those grieving in Burnsville following the deaths of two officers and a firefighter-paramedic who responded to a domestic violence situation.
