(KNSI) – The 13th annual St. Cloud Rox Reading Program had every child from Albany to Zimmerman, and maybe even Mudville, too, cracking open books this April.

Thirty different cities in central Minnesota took part over the course of four weeks, involving 52 elementary and middle schools, 886 classrooms, and 19,500 students. Rox Managing Partner Scott Schreiner says, “It’s truly a team effort between not only the students and Rox staff but also teachers, parents, school support staff, and administrators.”

The club partners with Magnifi Financial to offer plenty of incentives to get kids into reading. Each student who completes the program gets two Rox tickets. Over 1,800 receive a drawstring bag. Three lucky winners are awarded a new savings account at the bank loaded with $250. Three teachers win new classroom books, and one school is selected for a $1,000 prize to help with library program upgrades.

The Rox say they have reached over 137,000 students since the reading program was first implemented.
