(KNSI) – St. Cloud Technical & Community College is ready to launch its Licensed Practical Nursing Career Grant Pathway Program this fall.
In 2022, the college received $950,000 from an earmark sponsored by Senators Amy Klobuchar and Tina Smith. The funding allows SCTCC to educate 54 more nursing students over three years. The school has hired staff to mentor the cohort. All LPN students will also have access to a career success coach.
SCTCC administrators say the funding is critical to helping central Minnesota’s refugee and immigrant population find work and fill a void in the healthcare system.
The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development projects 49,000 RN position openings in the state over the next decade.
