(KNSI) — St. Cloud State University is getting a cut of $4 million in Student Support Personnel Workforce Pipeline Grants.

The funds are awarded to ten college programs to help create culturally responsive and diverse student support programs. The programs support students’ becoming licensed school psychologists, school nurses, school counselors and school social workers.

SCSU was awarded more than $35,760 to train more social workers. The program aims to increase the workforce in these areas who identify as people of color or Indigenous.

A second round of $700,000 will open for applications in late April. The 2023 Legislature passed Student Support Personnel Workforce Pipeline Program grants last spring as part of the Education Bill.
