(KNSI) – The famous “Peanuts” characters come to life when ‘You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown’ hits the stage at St. Cloud Tech High School.

The performances start Friday at 7:00 p.m. Shows on Saturday are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., and the last curtain will go up on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. KNSI News caught up with Tech High School Theater Director Jon Legg. He told KNSI news it’s an interesting play because all the comic strips come together. “You’re really just following Charlie Brown through a day in the life. And so, he’s dealing with struggles of being alone and trying to deal with Lucy, trying to calm down Snoopy. You’ve got Linus with separation anxiety from his blanket.”

He explained the musical allows each character to have their moment dealing with something. The 31 students making up the cast and crew got to take the Broadway play and make it their own. “We are just putting our own twist on it. So, we let our kids experiment in the style of Charles Schultz when they created our sets and our props and everything. So, everything is larger than life. It makes our kids look tiny, like little cartoon characters, and it’s just bright and fun and really good for the whole family.”

Legg says they are ready for the bright lights after eight weeks of practice. “The kids have been working really hard, and the only thing we’re missing is an audience to give us that feedback, applause, cheers, and laughs, and we’re super excited to share this with everyone.”

The play is about two hours long, with an intermission in the middle. Concessions will be sold for a free-will donation, with all proceeds going to the theater department.
