(KNSI) – A teenager who was arrested after a shooting that left two people wounded in St. Cloud has been charged.

According to police, around 2:30 on Sunday morning, they were called to Go For It Gas on the corner of 9th Avenue South and University Drive. When they arrived, they found a 17-year-old on the ground suffering from two gunshot wounds to the torso. He was going in and out of consciousness before being rushed to CentraCare-St. Cloud Hospital. The victim was then airlifted to a Twin Cities hospital in stable but critical condition.

Investigators obtained surveillance video of the shooting. They say the video shows a man approaching Lazar Darnell Jones and throwing two punches. He then backed up and turned away as Jones allegedly pulled a handgun from his waistband. At that time, the victim started running and ended up between the suspect and the intended target of the shooting. Jones is accused of firing twice and fleeing the scene. He was arrested on Monday.

During the investigation, a 31-year-old woman showed up at the hospital with a gunshot wound to her leg suffered during the incident. She was treated and released.

Seventeen-year-old Jones is charged with first-degree assault causing great bodily harm, second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon, and possession of ammo/pistol/assault weapon while under 18. All three charges are felonies.

There is no update on the victim’s condition.
