(KNSI) – Longtime Sauk Rapids resident David Rixe has been named the city’s citizen of the year.

Council member Jason Ellering nominated him for his 30-year track record on various government commissions and other volunteer capacities. Rixe has been a part of the Advisory Park Board, Planning Commission, and Joint Planning Board.

He is still a member of the Sauk Rapids Police Reserve, a group he was instrumental in getting started, and the Economic Development Authority. Rixe was visited on April 15th by the Citizen of the Year Committee to receive his award.

Mayor Kurt Hunstiger will officially present it at the May 13th council meeting.
