(KNSI) – Target stores are fully embracing the nation’s fastest-growing sport.
Prepare to see plenty of pickleball gear the next time you head for the red bullseye. Beginning this Saturday, the retailer is playing doubles with Prince, a long-established tennis brand. The Prince for Target collection will consist of about 80 items.
Clothing and equipment are both included. Outfits, paddles, pickleballs, and duffel bags will start as low as $9.99. Target says most things will come with a price tag under $50. You’re able to do your pickleball shopping in person or online.
The sport can be played indoors or out, from gym floors to tennis courts. It has some specific rules, unique to the game. A pickleball court is smaller than a traditional tennis surface. The net is shorter as well. On either side is an area called “the kitchen.” Players must stay out while volleying back and forth during a point.
The rules and year-round play make the sport accessible to young and old. Target says its pickleball collection will include pleated skirts and dresses, as well as men’s clothing with a retro inspiration.
