(KNSI) — Two women killed in a fiery crash between their side-by-side UTV and a pickup truck have been identified.

According to the Benton County Sheriff’s Office, they responded to the crash in Maywood Township around 2:20 Saturday afternoon. They found a gray 2011 Chevy Silverado in the ditch next to a UTV already fully engulfed in flames.

Witnesses pulled the two women from the burning wreckage; however, both were pronounced dead at the scene. The Midwest Medical Examiner identified the driver as 44-year-old Jamie Lea Jendro of Princeton. The passenger was identified as 34-year-old Lindsay Erin Karsky of Oak Park.

The pickup driver, a 57-year-old man from Foley, suffered minor injuries from the crash and from trying to pull the victims from the flames.

Deputies say their preliminary investigation found the side-by-side had been driving south on Ronneby Road and that the truck was going north. According to witnesses, the side-by-side had been driving down the middle of the road at highway speeds. Evidence gathered at the scene showed the crash happened near the centerline of the roadway.

The circumstances that led up to the accident are still under investigation.
