(KNSI) – An environmentally-friendly travel shampoo manufacturer came out on top in this year’s FastLane94 Trailblazer Challenge pitch competition.
ModernKind is the brainchild of Maria Thompson of Zimmerman. The company produces a powdered shampoo that won’t leak when included in your travel luggage. It is packaged in refillable aluminum bottles designed to reduce plastic waste.
A panel of judges heard from executives from five different organizations on April 11th at the ILT Academy studio inside the Davidson Opera House on 5th Avenue in downtown St. Cloud. The Greater St. Cloud Development Corporation puts on the contest along with economic development organizations from across west-central Minnesota. Open to the public, the event was organized in a “Shark Tank”-type format.
ModernKind’s win earns it $4,000 in cash and an entry into the MNCup hosted by the University of Minnesota Carlson School of Business. Adapdom of Sauk Rapids was a finalist but did not place. It makes gloves that help lessen pain from chronic conditions like arthritis, fibromyalgia, or other hand and wrist issues.
