Central Minnesota Anglers Anticipate Opening Day as Trout Season Approaches

(KNSI) – Fans of fishing in flowing water only need to wait a few more days before they can wet a line.

The Department of Natural Resources says the popular stream trout season opens Saturday. There are fishing opportunities across the state.

In central Minnesota, anglers take a crack at casting for trout in ten streams. Try your luck in Bunker Hill Creek and Little Rock Creek in Benton County. Stearns County boasts the rest of the streams, which include Cold Spring Creek along with Fairhaven, Johnson, Luxemburg, Robinson’s Hill, Smart and Thiel Creeks.

Minnesota has roughly 3,800 miles of designated trout streams. Anglers 18-64 must have a trout stamp validation and a fishing license to catch them.

Brook trout and splake fishing will also open on April 13th on Lake Superior and its tributaries.
