(KNSI) – Interstate 94 improvements have been included in the 2024 federal budget.

In a joint release, U.S. Senators Amy Klobuchar and Tina Smith say $3,000,000 is being allocated to upgrade the busy connector between central Minnesota and the Twin Cities. A stretch of Highway 24 in Clearwater will be touched up, and roundabouts will be added at County Roads 7 and 75 in Wright County.

They also thank House Majority Whip Tom Emmer for bipartisan support in securing the spending. The request was made as part of the congressionally directed spending process, where legislators review proposals made by state leaders.

Klobuchar exclaims, “With this federal grant, Clearwater will upgrade Interstate 94 and Trunk Highway 24 to improve traffic conditions.”

Smith adds, “Upgrading this section of 94 will mean less congestion and safer trips for Minnesotans traveling through Wright County.”

The money will be disbursed to state agencies within a couple of months.
